[GD-DIA&AS_Info] On Behalf of Writing Programs: Eng Comp 499 Grad Careers Workshop Enrolling Now

Greetings All,

Nedda Mehdizadeh and I will once again be offering our graduate student career workshop this spring. We hope you'll consider joining us.

Eng Comp 499 combines self-reflection and structured activities to illuminate professional trajectories within and beyond the university. Covering both academic and extramural career preparation, our course tackles uncertainties and offers strategies to make career planning more empowering.

Colloquium participants will have the opportunity to:
· talk with expert panelists about how they built on their graduate training to obtain positions in a wide variety of fields;
· research positions that fit their own aptitudes, goals, and values; and
· create packets of job application materials in a supportive and collaborative workshop environment.
Next quarter, our course will meet in odd-numbered weeks, from 10 AM to 12:50 PM on April 1, April 15, April 29, May 13, and May 27. Discussions and workshops will be in person, while guest speakers will join us by Zoom.

There are typically many more students on the waitlist than we can accommodate, so don't delay in letting us know you're interested. Click here to request a PTE number.

I hope you'll follow up with Nedda (nmehdiz@ucla.edu) and me (mmciver@ucla.edu) if you have questions, and please share this announcement and attached flyer with others who might be interested in enrolling.

All my best,

--Mia
