Reminder: Thesis and Dissertation Filing Deadline Spring 2018 is June 15
Please
share this important reminder with your graduate students who plan to
file an electronic thesis or dissertation (ETD) in Spring 2018.
· The Spring 2018 deadline is Friday, June 15, 2018, at 5 pm PST. Do
NOT wait until the last day to file your thesis or dissertation.
· Please
read the Filing Requirements
thoroughly. All formatting requirements are explained throughout this document.
· For
more important information about the submission process and to view Frequently Asked Questions, visit
https://www.grad.ucla.edu/etd.
To assist students and
committee members with questions and concerns, the Academic Services
Office will remain open until 5:00 PM PST on Friday, June 15, 2018.
Formatting Matters!
·
Accurate and complete formatting is required of all submitted manuscripts.
·
Review the examples found in pages 27 – 37 of the
Filing Requirements. The formatting of your preliminary page must match these samples
exactly.
·
For technical formatting assistance, please contact the CLICC lab.
·
Submissions are not complete until you receive final approval from Graduate Division—incorrect formatting will delay approval.
HELPFUL HINTS
1.
Your name in your
manuscript must match the name that appears in official university
records. If you wish to change the name of record, you must file a
change of name petition in the Registrar’s Office
prior to the ETD submission.
2.
The committee page of your manuscript must only include certifying committee members.
3. Your committee members must log in to
https://go.grad.ucla.edu
to sign off on your final oral exam and/or manuscript.
4.
After completing your process, you can log back into the Graduate Division website
(https://www.grad.ucla.edu/etd) to check the status of your committee approvals.
5.
In order to meet the filing deadline, all of the following must occur by the official deadline:
·
All required committee members have signed off
·
Committee has certified you have passed the final oral exam (if applicable)
·
You have submitted a final PDF via ProQuest (After Graduate Division approval of the manuscript, no changes can be made)
The last date that all of the items
listed above is complete will be your filing date. For example, if you
submit your final dissertation PDF and complete the online process on
June 9, three committee members sign on June 11,
and the final committee member signs on June 15 by 5pm PST, your filing
date will be June 15 assuming you have met all other degree
requirements.
