The
ASCE Younger Member Forums (YMF) of the Los Angeles Section (Los
Angeles, Orange County, San Joaquin, San Bernardino/Riverside, Santa
Barbara/Ventura, and San Luis Obispo) have agreed to sponsor one college
student to attend the 2018 ASCE Convention in Denver, Colorado, held
Oct. 12-15, 2018. The recipient will receive up to $1000 in
reimbursement for the cost of registration, flight, and room (all
receipts required). After registering, the recipient will be reimbursed
for registration and then receive the rest of the
$1000 on the condition of later submitting flight and room receipts and being required to
return
all $1000 if the recipient does not attend the Convention. Attending
ASCE’s Annual Civil Engineering Conference grants you the opportunity to
receive points for your Student Chapter Annual Report, not to mention
the opportunity to rub elbows with the world’s best and brightest
engineers!
-Listed below are the general requirements for applicants. The applicant must be:
-Enrolled in an accredited university (provide proof of enrollment for Fall 2018)
-Majoring in Civil Engineering or a related field
-An active member of an ASCE Student Chapter
The recipient will be selected based on the following criteria:
- -50% Written Essay
- -40% ASCE Involvement
- 10% Attention to Detail
Essays will be judged for originality, content, structure, and grammar.
