Mentors for Environmental Science Without Borders
Under the UCLA's Center for Diverse Leadership at
the Institute of the Environment and Sustainability, Dr. Aradhna
Tripati and I are starting a program called Environmental
Science Without Borders (ESWoB) Mentorship program, aimed at
supporting environmental science students from developing
countries. The platform will connect faculty, career
professionals, post-docs, graduate or peer-undergraduate
students, willing to serve as mentors with one or more students
from developing countries (mentees). With a commitment of few
hours every month, the mentees will be able to reach out to
their respective mentors for support of all kinds.
We are hoping to kick-start the program with some students from Nelson Mandela University in South Africa and the Congo Basin Institute in Cameroon, and we are asking for your support to serve as a mentor. An inaugural virtual mentor-mentee group meeting will take place via Zoom video conference Wednesday, April 11 @ 9:00am PDT (more information will be sent out later).
If you are be interested to serve as a mentor, please fill out this google form: https://goo.gl/forms/OT7qxslFm22Z86sw1 with your information. We will also appreciate if you can share this email with other colleagues and students in your group.
With your support, we believe that we can empower today's young scientists to become diverse leaders in the future.
Regards.
