Graduate Summer Scholar Program - Application due Mar. 1
We are delighted to open applications for the 2018 Graduate Summer Scholars Program!
Now in its sixth year, the UCLA Blum Center Summer Scholars Program supports training and field experience for graduate student research in Latin America on
issues related to poverty and improved health outcomes. Through this
program, graduate students live and work in a region of Latin America
and work with universities, international institutions and/or community
organizations involved in activities focused on improving health and
social conditions of local populations.
Each
student will be mentored both by a faculty member from their respective
university and a representative from the sponsoring host organization
in Latin America.
Summer
scholars have engaged in research covering a range of interests
including: chronic disease epidemiology and treatment; resource
allocation for low-income communities; prevalence of depression and
other mental health conditions; criminal activity analyses and policy
implications; the effects of transportation on well-being.
Up to six graduate students will be selected for 2018 Summer Scholars Program and receive a $4000 stipend to help cover transportation costs (air and ground), lodging and meals.
Please circulate the following documents in your department: Call for Applications and Application. Applications are due March 1st, 2018.
