It’s easy for California’s five-year drought to recede in our memories, but resisting that amnesia is essential to our Golden State’s water future. Join Sustainable Conservation and the UCLA Institute of the Environment and Sustainability for a live webcast exploring how farms and cities are capturing rainfall when it is plentiful, and conserving water during dry times. Learn how California is working to recover from the drought, implement the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act, and find solutions that meet the needs of farming, communities, and the environment.

Register now and submit a question for the panelists ahead of time to watch the live webcast on September 6th at 7pm Pacific. Click below to learn more about the panelists.

Transforming Dairy Waste into a Valuable Resource
We have a lot of cows in California, and to keep enjoying the nutritious milk and cheese products we love, we need to find new ways to manage the manure these beautiful bovines produce.

Sustainable Conservation promotes solutions for turning this nutrient-rich waste into valuable compost to help protect our land, air, and climate, while keeping dairy industry jobs in California. Check out the findings of our recent report on the environmental, economic, and policy opportunities for increasing the market for dairy manure compost.

Recharge in Action!
News keeps spreading about our efforts to advance the low-cost solution ofrecharging depleted Central Valley groundwater aquifers by inundating active farmland with available floodwater/snowmelt.

Last month, along with our partners, we visited on-farm recharge pioneerDon Cameron of Terranova Ranch to teach even more San Joaquin Valley farmers about the promising practice, building momentum to boost groundwater levels in one of the state’s most critically depleted regions.
