JOB DESCRIPTION:
DSN Group is seeking a Project Engineer to be part of its burgeoning specialty engineering and construction services firm based in Los Angeles, CA. The candidate will assist the team in design, implementation, and specification of structural systems and associated tasks. Project Engineers are an integral part of the team, responsible for leading the structural engineering design for projects, interfacing with clients throughout the design and construction process, preparing and checking design calculations of structural systems, and participating in construction administration activities when required by the project. Project Engineers must have experience working in AutoCAD while also possessing: creative problem solving skills; a strong grasp of mathematics and physics; three-dimensional conceptual design; and understanding of construction materials. Outside of an ability to apply principles of mechanics, mathematics, and physics to construct safe, sustainable buildings, the roles and responsibilities of the Project Engineer include:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Providing structural design services and coordinating building permit plan sets for all disciplines, including structural, architectural, and MP&E permit submittals.
• Supervising site and soil surveys to assist in the proper design and engineering of foundations.
• Analyzing structural elements and load capabilities of existing buildings.
• Preparing and checking design calculations of structure systems to ensure a project has the proper loads and stresses.
• Performing analysis and design of structural systems for all types of buildings and materials using various building codes.
• Responsibility for the technical quality, accuracy, and standards of engineering and design drafting for the project.
• Consulting with other members of various projects, including engineers, surveyors, environmental technicians, architects, designers, and other consultants.
• Coordinating production of building plans for construction and permit.
• Working with government bodies (Planning, Building and Safety, Building Inspectors, etc.) in their review and inspections related to the project.
• Assisting during the permitting and site development phases.
• Supervising and managing of on-site labor throughout the construction to ensure the plans are properly being implemented.

DESIRED SKILL AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree or greater in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering with Structural emphasis, or equivalent engineering field is required.
• Ideally one (1) to two (2) years professional work experience.
• Have completed EIT Certification.
• Proficient in AutoCAD 2015+, RISA, Revit, and ENERCALC.
• Familiar with design and construction using formed steel (load bearing, shear walls, etc.), structural steel, concrete, CMU/Masonry, wood, and other materials.
• Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills, including basic knowledge of commercial and residential real estate.
• Sound analytical, communication and writing skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to function in a team environment.
• Ability to multi-task and thrive in a growing, fast-paced environment, while proactively anticipating future needs.
• Demonstrated leadership capabilities, self-motivated and willing to solve problems and take on new challenges.
• Ability to display excellent judgment.
• Confidence to work directly with senior engineers and consultants with limited supervision and guidance.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills as well as the ability to adapt to change.
• Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
